Pink Beans 1 LB. Bag
These non-GMO pink beans are grown in the USA and packed in a 1 lb bag, offering a rich, meaty flavor ideal for hearty dishes. Versatile and vegan-friendly, they hold spices well in refried beans, chili, Caribbean cuisine, and other Latin American recipes.
Preparation
Sort and rinse beans before preparing.
- Overnight soak: Cover generously with water and soak 8–12 hours in the refrigerator. Drain and rinse before cooking.
- Quick soak: Cover with water, boil for 2 minutes, remove from heat, cover, and rest 1 hour. Drain and rinse.
- No soak: Cook directly from dry, allowing extra cooking time and adding water as needed.
Cover with fresh water about 2 inches above the beans, bring to a boil, then simmer until fully tender. Soaked beans may take about 45–75 minutes; older beans, altitude, and water hardness can extend cooking time. Check tenderness rather than relying on the clock.
Hard-water tip: If beans stay firm, try low-mineral bottled water or softened water. Add acidic ingredients such as tomatoes or vinegar after the beans are tender.
Storage
- Dry beans: Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
- Cooked beans: Refrigerate in shallow, sealed containers within 2 hours of cooking (within 1 hour above 90°F). Keep at 40°F or below and use within 3–4 days, or freeze for longer storage.
